What to expect

I manage my research based on the genealogical standard proof, which requires the following:

*Reasonably exhaustive research.
*Complete and accurate source citations.
*Thorough analysis and correlation.
* Resolution of conflicting evidence.
* Soundly written conclusion based on the strongest evidence

Prior to the commencement of any research, I clarify a client's research objectives.  For example, is the desire to build a family tree, do you want to learn more about a specific ancestor, are you interested in learning about somebody's role in a specific historic event, etc. This is typically the point at which I provide an estimate for how many hours may be required to begin the necessary research. Once the objective has been determined and research estimate is agreed upon, I will provide you with a work order, which also includes an agreement that all research will be kept confidential. Following the collection of signatures by both parties, 50% of the total research fee will be required. I will also request that I be provided with any pertinent information already identified. This allows me to have a starting point and avoids the chance of me duplicating any research that has previously been completed.  My timed research begins after I have the research objective clarified, a work order is signed, the first half of payment is received, and all relevant information including previously completed research details has been sent to me. Each hour of research is carefully documented and included in a final report.  This final report will be shared once all research hours have been exhausted and once payment of the final 50% is received.
